Full disclosure: you can do this, but the hours are going to be far worse than trading, the pay won't be far better and you'll need to do genuinely routine, manage money low-value-add work. The advantage is you do have a larger variety of exit choices - doing engineering and then banking sets you up extremely well for equity capital, for instance. And the perks are nice.
